On a clear day above the Hagestein Weir and Lock Complex, you really get to see how special this place is. As the drone slowly rises, the entire structure unfolds beneath you: the large radial gates arching gracefully over the river Lek, the locks that have been doing their job since 1960, and the water flowing in a steady, almost natural rhythm. From the air, the whole scene has a calm beauty you simply don’t notice as much from the ground.
